At Cleveland VOTES, we believe democracy is more than a single election cycle. We are a nonpartisan, democracy-building movement committed to educating, connecting, and empowering communities across Northeast Ohio through civic engagement, voter participation, advocacy, and coalition-building. As our work continues to grow, we are seeking passionate, collaborative, and mission-aligned leaders to join our Board of Directors.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome board candidates who are energized by community-centered leadership and who believe in expanding civic participation and democratic access. Ideal candidates bring a combination of:

A commitment to equity, civic engagement, and community empowerment

Professional expertise in areas such as fundraising, finance, law, communications, nonprofit governance, public policy, education, organizing, or strategy

Strong relationships within Cleveland and Northeast Ohio communities

A collaborative mindset and willingness to serve as ambassadors for the organization

Excitement about supporting a growing, innovative nonprofit movement

Board Member Responsibilities

Attending and actively participating in board meetings
